why you gotta be so weird?
ugh. so i already know this will be a terribly disjointed post, but pls bear with ... a few things:1. some show/ party type thangs you should check out, toronto!!
dec 7th - psychic ills/ indian jewelry/ creeping nobodies/ wyrd visions - sneaky dee's
dec 9th - les georges leningrad/ kids on tv/ duchess says/ dmonstrations - sneaky dee's
these lovely shows are brought to you by mikey apples (futur primitiv).
2. as i mentioned i went to go see kenneth anger at the bloor cinema last week. i kinda expected a scary, senile, beligerant old queen (just as i imagined herzog to be really intimidating), but alas i was wrong (again). he was super funny and appeared on stage in black leather pants and a rangers jersey customized to say 'ANGER' (i'm under the impression he's really into outrageous tops). totally willing to give out autographs and tell madcap stories. i was happy enough to just lay eyes on the real, live kenneth anger and watch his films (which i have only on second gen vhs tapes) on the silver screen.
3. glissandro 70 played on oct 10th edition of beats in space! coooooool!!!!
4. new favorite blog alert!!! - PRODUZENTIN!!!
5. a couple songs and thangs ....
the model - snakefinger (1979)
totally bizarro and amazing cover of kraftwerk's classic tune done by an associate of the residents (forever indebted to mr apples for playin this for me many moons ago ....)
soul gypsy - thomas leer (1982)
weirdo synth pop with shades of funk, and uh ... lord knows what else. awesome.

fact that people are getting hipped to Thomas Leer is makes me the happiest camper around. Total genius. Check out the early stuff like the LP w/ Robert Rental on Industrial, all the material on the Cherry Red Contradictions CD including his classic first 7" Private Plane/International, and definately his sexy fairlight 80s pop on the Scale of Ten CD...
